Lux* South Ari Atoll resort is the perfect choice if you are looking for a large resort with a long stretch of white sandy beach and several amenities. They have two large infinity pools and a marine center that can take you on whale shark snorkeling excursions. Whale shark sightings are more common in the south atoll region. During our excursion, we were able to see two large whale sharks and swim right next to them. Although they have large mouths, they are only filter feeders and are safe to be around and I was relieved I did not get swallowed!
The grounds of Lux* South Ari Atoll are relatively large compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Maldives. It takes about 20-minutes to walk from one end to the other. While taking a stroll, you will notice tree swings, cabanas, and beautiful palm trees hanging over the water for the perfect photo op along with thoughtful complimentary treats, such as a hidden bar with free drinks, a coconut stand, and hidden treasure bottles with messages with prizes. We chose to stay in a beach villa instead of an over-the-water bungalow just for a more varied experience since the other half of our trip we stayed at one at Baros. The beach villa was spacious with close proximity to the beach and was very private.
